Northwoods Seed Exchange in the Library

The Northwoods Seed Exchange

As we are blessed with these last beautiful days of Northwoods summers, mother nature has begun preparing herself for her long rest. The nights are cool, the air is calming, and the seeds are ripening. If you’ve ever been interested in collecting your own seeds for your spring gardens, keep reading!

The Northwoods Seed Exchange is a new program we’ve begun, targeting our garden lovers, inner botanists, and green thumbs. This program’s goal is to create an easy, fun way to share the joys of gardening and nature and bring our communities together. Visit your fall fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees to collect their seeds and donate them to our Northwoods Seed Exchange. In the spring, we will have them available, for free, to anyone who’d like to plant them.

You may drop them off to any of our four local libraries, Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters, Winchester, or Presque Isle, as well as the North Lakeland Discovery Center, which all have a drop-off box located inside. Come spring, our distribution box will be located at the North Lakeland Discovery Center. We encourage everyone to participate, collaborate, and ask questions if you need help!
